The sophomore release from Seattle's In Praise of Folly can be seen as a departure from their first record. The beautiful and haunting vocals are still there along with the layers of atmospheric guitars, but the songs are shorter, more mature, and rock much harder then any of their earlier work. With this album In Praise of Folly may still draw comparisons to indie-rock bands such as Built to Spill and Modest Mouse, but "means/ends" sees them delving deeper into classical music and math rock influences.
