Against The Grain is the sophomore album released by Carriers of the Cross in 2006. This album is based on the scripture found in Romans 12:22 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Carriers of the Cross urge the youth of today to live Against the Grain of what this world deems acceptable and living by Gods standards placed forth in the Bible.
With a scripture verse backing each song on this album, it is certainly one that seeks to represent Christ to the fullest. Speaking of which, the song Who You Rep? is all about the things that people represent in this world and how they pale in comparison to Jesus.
This album has a wide variety of songs, virtually something for everybody. It contains hard hitting songs like On A Mission and Black Hole, fun and upbeat songs like The Rebirth and Madd Flo, deep and thought provoking songs like Introspect and Letter From The Grave, anthems like Warriors and Anthem Live, and a very personal song Dad. Dad speaks about life as a child without the proper influence and interaction of a loving father and how one can still grow to a proper relationship with God the Father and experience that Love that was absent before.
Against The Grain serves as a wakeup call to stop living like the world does and is a very solid album overall with production by Tabletop, PURE Music, 4Sight Sounds, 180, Bang Theory, and Lyrikote Productions. Are you conformed to this world or do you live Against The Grain?
